This week, Tigers and Zebras had a visit from Adrian Hall. Adrian has visited the Arctic roughly 15 times, so the children were able to hear first hand what it is like there. We were all amazed at the amount of different items he could pack into his rucksack and the difference between Stansted airport and an airport in Greenland (which only has 1 flight a week!) The children found out what Winter and Summer are like and how to make a toilet! After finding out about the Arctic, the children then learnt how to read a map. Adrian had drawn a map of our playground and hidden some small flags in different places. Working in pairs, they had to locate the flags using their maps. The first challenge was to make sure the maps were the right way round!
This week year 6 have been learning rhythm notation in music. We learnt how long each notation was worth and then created our own rhythms to challenge each other with.
This half term Giraffes have started a new topic, the Ancient Greeks. We enjoyed being archaeologists this week and explored many different artefacts. We had to work out what they were, what they were used for and what this taught us about the lives of the Ancient Greeks.
