This term Penguins have been continuing to explore the topic 'All About Me'. We have also concentrated on the topic of 'Christmas'!
In our English lessons, we have been learning the story of 'The Grinch who Stole Christmas'. We have been writing sentences from the story, making sure to use capital letters and full stops. We have also used exclamation marks! When we have been writing, we have used our phonics to help us spell words, sounding out words that we are unsure of. We have used describing words to talk about the Grinch and have tried to use these words in our stories. We have also written letters this term. One letter was addressed to the Grinch to ask him to stop spoiling Christmas and the second letter was addressed to Santa!
We have done a range of activities in Maths this half term. We have continued to recap our numbers to 20, used addition and subtraction facts, learnt fractions of half and quarter and have started to recognise and use money. We have also started to focus on our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
In Science we have been looking at our bodies, focusing on how to keep fit and healthy. We have designed a face using various fruits and vegetables and then labelled these in our books. We have also spoken about how exercise keeps us healthy and have used this knowledge in our PE lessons. In PE we have been learning different elements of Gymnastics, from balancing on different body parts to doing a forward roll!
In Geography, we have looked at our own personal geography. We have been looking at where in the world we live and have identified the different countries within the United Kingdom. We have looked at areas around us, including Maldon town and the Promenade Park and have tried to work out where we live.
