Our first Year 5 half term was out of this world - quite literally! In English lessons, we took on the roles of eye witnesses, detectives and reporters to investigate a most unexpected alien invasion, producing diary entries, reports and newspapers.
Year 5 have been extremely privileged to take part in the 52 Schools, 52 Weeks of Kindness Project this half term. The scheme works with 52 schools over 52 weeks, each school taking on a special assignment involving a kind act. We really enjoyed making a new friend, four year old 'Riley', who is in need of cheering up at the moment. We worked extremely hard together as a class, making video messages and get well cards to let him know that we are all thinking about him and to put a huge smile on his face - and ours! It feels great to do something nice for someone!
Year 5 are excited (and a little bit nervous) about our 'Big Sing' concert debut in November. We have worked hard with Amy from the Big Sing Choir to rehearse so many fabulous songs and dances. Some of us have been really brave and auditioned for solos! It's going to be a great experience. Photos of us singing our socks off to follow!
It's going to be a hard half term to beat, that's for sure!
So... performing at The Big Sing concert was AMAZING! (Some of us enjoyed it so much that we immediately signed up for weekly 'Little Sing' sessions!)
Our soloists did an especially brilliant job and we are pretty sure we spotted our head teacher shedding a few tears of pride at certain moments! Before the show started, we were all a bit nervous but excited at the same time and, when it was over, we were so proud of ourselves and grateful for the wonderful experience. Thank you to Amy and the Big Sing for giving us the chance to perform with you. What a wonderful memory for us to treasure!
