This term Penguins have been exploring the topic 'Superheroes'.
In our English lessons, we have been focusing on the story 'Superworm' by Julia Donaldson. We have learnt the story and have also answered questions about what happens in the story. We have also written our own superhero stories, using Superworm to give us ideas. In our stories, we have been including capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We have also been using our phonic knowledge to help us with our spellings.
In Guided Reading we have been exploring different question types when reading a book. This has helped us to understand the meaning of words, the characters and the story.
We have done a range of activities in Maths. We have recapped our numbers to 20, used addition and subtraction, explored 3D shapes and have started learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We are growing more and more confident with our number work and have answered worded problems using different resources in the classroom.
In Science we have been looking at the different uses of materials. We have identified the different uses of glass, plastic, wood, cardboard and metal in our environment.
In History, we have looked at real life superheroes, including those who help us in the emergency services. We have discussed what makes someone a superhero and the impact they have on our every day life.
