When we returned after the Easter holidays the Bears found an mysterious egg! We spent time investigating what could be inside our egg and everyone made their predictions. We decided to write a letter to the Natural history museum in London to see if they could help. A very helpful lady, Dr Sarah Bones wrote back to us explaining that she thought the egg looked like a dinosaur egg. We waited a very long time but eventually the egg hatched! Inside was a small triceraptops, we decided to call him Spike. We researched whether he was a herbivore or a carnivore and how to look after him.
We have enjoyed spending time in our dinosaur museum, learning how to uncover bones using a paintbrush and made dinosaurs out of clay.
Eventually it was time to send Spike to the natural history museum to be cared for properly. We packaged him up and wrote care instructions onto the box.
After watching 'It's a bugs life' we decided to change the story we have been learning from a dinosaur story into a story about a little green cricket. We investigated the lifecycle of a caterpillar and built our own wormery (we had lots of fun trying to find the worms to go into it).
We ended our half term performing our dinosaur and cricket story to our parents, which everyone was very proud of us for!
