This term our topic is the Rainforest.
This half term, we have been learning where rainforests are, what they are like and what animals live there. This has linked to our science topic about what plants need to grow and how they reproduce. In art we have looked at the work by Henri Rousseau and replicated his style using sketching, water colour and pastels. In literacy we have been writing persuasive texts about saving endangered animals and traditional tales set in South America.
Next half term, we will be continuing with our Rainforest topic, focusing on human geography as opposed to physical. We will learn about tribes that live in the Rainforest and will explore tribal art and culture. As part of our whole school trip to Colchester Zoo, year 3 and 4 will visit animals of the rainforest in real life, rather than in books and on screen. We will be consolidating our knowledge of plants in science by producing a presentation on rainforest plants and how they are adapted to their habitat. In literacy we will be writing discussion texts on deforestation and exploring Rudyard Kipling's Just So stories.
