The children will be given a list of 20 spellings from their spelling pattern to learn each week. These will be given on a Tuesday and tested on the following Monday.
Words from the year 3/4 list (which can be found in your child’s planner) are tested half-termly.
Children are expected to know all of their times tables and corresponding division facts, up to 12 x 12, by the end of year 4.
Therefore, they need to continue to practise and learn the times tables they do not know to work towards their times table badges. They will be tested on these every Friday morning.
They can also practise other areas of maths on Mathletics https://login.mathletics.com/.
Children are expected to read daily at home. They can also complete a book review of each book they read as part of the reading challenge we are running in school.
Children must read their colour-banded reading book twice, once for decoding and once for comprehension before they are allowed to change it. This must be signed off in their planners by parents/carers. The only exceptions to this are longer chapter books, but there are very few of these in the banded reading scheme.
